Peany Matthews

‘Peany’ Linford Matthews

Painter, 1979 - present

From Shady Side, Peany is the second youngest of nine children and one of four brothers who have worked for Hartge’s and were all great painters.

Peany grew up working on boats at marinas in southern Anne Arundel county along with his father. Many years ago while Peany was on a job at a local marina, Alex saw his skill with a brush and offered him a job. Two weeks later, Peany began his long career at the yard.

Peany is a skilled artist who transforms tarnished, damaged, and weather-beaten wood and bright work into glossy masterpieces. As an example of his work habits: the Service Manager or Supervisor meet with the guys before the start of the work day, going over important work that must be done, but where is Peany? No one has seen him! You soon discover that he is and has been on the job, long before everyone else. No fuss. No problems. He just gets it done, with a smile!

Chuck Reynolds

Painter, 2013 - present

Chuck grew up on Kent Island where he his first job was helping one of the Hartge cousins, Robert Hartge, with crab boats that were built and rented boats at Kent Narrows.

Chuck completed Diesel School and went to work at the Roscioli Yachting Center in Florida. Later he moved on to work a few years in Hatteras and returned to Maryland when he was employed for ten years at Oxford Boatyard.

Chuck came to Hartge's in 2013 and specializes in boat painting. He's one of those guys who gets things done in adverse conditions. No matter the wind factor, cold, heat, rain or snow. Chuck manages to produce a beautiful product.
