Chuck grew up on Kent Island where he got his first job helping one of the Hartge cousins, Robert Hartge, with his crab boats. Robert built and rented boats at Kent Narrows.
Chuck attended and completed Diesel School and went to work in the Roscioli Yachting Center in Florida. Moved on to work in Hatteras for a few years and then returned to Maryland where he worked for 10 years at Oxford Boatyard.
Chuck came to Hartge's in 2013, and specializes in boat painting. He's one of those guys who gets things done in adverse conditions. No matter the gale force wind factor, cold, heat, rain or snow. Chuck manages to provide a beautiful product.
Painter, 1979 - present
Peany is the second youngest of nine children and one of four brothers who have worked for Hartge's.
Peany grew up working side jobs on boats and at marinas in southern Anne Arundel county along with his father. While Peany was on a job at a local marina, Alex saw Peany's skill with a brush and offered him a job. Two weeks later, Peany began his long career at the yard.
Peany is a skillful artist who transforms tarnished, damaged and/or weather-beaten woodwork and brightwork into glossy masterpieces.
