since 1865 in an eclectic assembly of old and new buildings and former
Hartge family homes.

Full service yard capable of most
all work on boats:
Mast and boom building, painting, repairs, rigging; furling/reefing systems
sales and installation for jibs and mains, deck hardware design and
installation; custom hardware fabrication; welding of stainless steel and
aluminum; aluminum and stainless steel tank manufacturing; repair and
installation of air conditioners, heater, stoves and ovens, water makers,
refrigerators and freezers, electrics, electrical systems; maintenance,
repair, and installation of gas and diesel engine and generators,
transmissions, exhaust systems, drinking water systems, fuel systems,
sanitation systems, steering systems, propulsion systems, bow thrusters,
stabilizers; sprayed polyurethane paint systems, primarily Awlgrip; brush
painting; hauling with railways and travelifts; commissioning of new power
and sail boats; dry storage, shrink wrap, fiberglass composite work using
polyester, vinylester, and epoxy; gelcoat repair, blister repairs using
peeling and relaminating of bottom, core replacement on hulls and decks;
rudder and centerboard rebuilding and repairs; fairing and shaping of
bottom, keel and rudder for racing; hardtops and enclosures; plastic
fabrication including hatches, enclosures, Venturi and Corian countertops;
woodworking, from structural repairs on wooden workboats such as skipjacks
and buyboats, to teak deck replacements, to fine joinery, on yachts such as
Sabre, Hinckley, and Swan.

Located on West River, about four
miles from the Chesapeake Bay, six and a half miles to Thomas Point
Lighthouse, and twelve miles to Annapolis.

The yard's location protects it
from strong northerly winds, seas, swells, and surges, but is not cut off
from the light summer breezes.

Approximately 300 boats in the
yard, in slips and moorings; power and sail from 20' to 70', but mostly
sailboats from 32' to 42'; 24 covered slips.

40 employees who have been with
us an average of 14 years and have combined over 600 years of boatyard
experience.
